Will the spare tyre mount fit my 4WD?

The Top End 4x4 Spare Tyre Gas Bottle Mount is designed to suit most standard 4WD rear spare tyre setups. The mounting plate sits against the tyre and is held on by three heavy-duty black ratchet straps with high-tensile stainless steel buckles.

Which gas bottle holders fit the spare tyre mount?

Our base mount holders bolt straight onto it: the 2kg Base & Rear Mount, 3kg Base & Rear Mount, 4kg Base & Rear Mount and the 4kg 316 Stainless Steel holder. The top mount (under-tray) holders do not fit the spare tyre mount.

Is the gas bottle holder included with the spare tyre mount?

No. The spare tyre mount is the backing bracket only, and the gas bottle holder is sold separately. Add the 2kg, 3kg or 4kg base mount holder that suits your bottle.

Is it lockable?

Yes. Every base mount holder in this range has a lockable stainless steel over-centre latch, so your cylinder stays secure from theft while it rides on the back of your vehicle. The strap is reversible for left or right-hand latching.

Will my gas bottle rattle on corrugated roads?

No. The mount is designed for a stable, rattle-free fit on your tyre, and each holder has rubber inserts and pinch-welds that stop metal-on-metal contact, so your bottle stays quiet and scuff-free on long outback corrugations.

Why carry a gas bottle on the spare wheel?

Gas bottles should be carried upright, secured and outside the passenger cabin, so any leaking gas can vent safely rather than build up inside your 4WD. The spare wheel is space you already have, so moving your gas there frees up your canopy or drawers and keeps it right where you need it at camp.
